Join the Pacific Rim Curling League for its annual one-day funspiel on Saturday, November 17!
The Pink Broom has always been a fun, social bonspiel that traditionally has matched participants on randomized teams throughout the day, with curlers dressing in their best pink outfits, sweeping along to the sounds of Katy Perry and Rihanna.
This year, the PRCL is mixing up the format by introducing a “Continental Cup”-style event that will see participants formed into teams of 8. These teams will compete in regular curling matches, doubles matches, skins matches, and skills competition, winning points for wins and ties. The team with the most points at the end is the winner of the Pink Broom!
This event is great for everyone – from experienced curlers to novices who want to meet more people and learn more about curling. All types of groups are welcome!
- Date: November 17, 9am to 5pm
- Cost: $45 (includes lunch)
- Guaranteed 3 four-end games
- Featuring regular curling, doubles, skins, and skills competition
- Register as an individual, or with friends
Registration is now closed, thank you to all who signed-up!
Draw schedule and attire
There will be four groups of eight people (per team): Purple, Blue, Green and Red. Come dressed head-to-toe in your team colour (hats, gloves, shirt, pants, etc). If you don’t have any of your color, feel free to come in pink attire (just not in colors of the other teams!)
Rules for specific games and draw sheets will be posted at the club before each draw. We’ll go through the rules for skins and doubles before you head on to the ice. Check-in is at 9 am sharp, where you’ll meet fellow group members and review the draw schedule:
- 9:15 am – Regular Game
10:30 am – Skills Competition
11:00 am – Skins Game
12:15 pm – LUNCH (Sushi, with veg and non-sushi options)
Draws 3 & 4
1:15 pm – Round 1 of Doubles games (half of participants on the ice)
2:30 pm – Round 2 of Doubles games (half of participants on the ice)
3:45 pm – Skins Game
5:00 pm – Awards presentation
At the end of the day, the group with the most total points wins the Pink Broom Cup of Curling!
